The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) announced on November 14 that it co-hosted the 2025 Korean-German Climate & Environment Conference with the German Embassy in Seoul on November 13 at the Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun.

This year’s conference, held under the theme “Boosting Energy Efficiency in Industry: Pathways to a Sustainable Future,” brought together more than 80 participants, including government officials, business leaders, and energy and environmental experts from both countries. Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on strategies for climate action, achieving carbon neutrality across industrial supply chains, and expanding bilateral cooperation.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Joern Beissert, Deputy Ambassador at the German Embassy, and Marie Antonia von Schönburg, Representative of KGCCI.

Kim Sung-il, Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), delivered the keynote speech on “The Key Role of Energy Efficiency in Achieving Net Zero in the Industrial Sector,” highlighting the growing importance of innovation in industrial energy efficiency.

In his remarks, Deputy Ambassador Beissert emphasized, “Energy efficiency remains at the core of climate action and still holds vast untapped potential. German companies possess the necessary technologies and stand ready to expand cooperation with Korean partners.”

KGCCI Representative von Schönburg added, “Energy efficiency is central to industrial competitiveness, and achieving net zero requires genuine partnerships among businesses, governments, and research institutes. Through strengthened cooperation, our two countries can build a more resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem and enhance future competitiveness.”
