Ambassador Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi of the United Arab Emirates in Seoul participated in the dialogue session of Pyeongchang Peace Forum (PPF) 2021, which was hosted by Gangwon Province, Pyeong Chang City and KOICA during the period from February 7-9, 2021, in the presence of Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and Governor Choi Moon-soon of Gangwon Province.
During the session, Ambassador Al Nuaimi spoke about the UAE’s approach to spreading the spirit of tolerance and peace, looking to the future, and the Abrahamic Agreement as a model to be followed for establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Ambassador Al Nuaimi said that this step meets the aspirations of the UAE people as well as the people in the region, for stability and prosperity, and the UAE believes that its bilateral ties with Israel and the two countries' cooperation with the United States on the region's matters represent great potentials on diplomatic, scientific, cultural and economic domains, adding that the agreements pave a new path for achieving this goal, through the creation of job opportunities especially for the youth that represent 65% of the region's population.
In addition to the above, regarding UAE’s Peaceful Efforts, the Ambassador mentioned that the UAE hosted the Pope's first visit to the Arabian Peninsula in 2019 and became the first Arab country to launch a probe to Mars in 2020. Also He said that Later this year starting from October, the UAE will host Expo 2020 Dubai, and, the UAE will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UAE foundation in 2nd of December 2021
It is noteworthy that the Pyeongchang Peace Forum 2021 is a global forum to discuss world peace, and the forum is launched this year under the slogan "Peace! Here and Now," which provides an opportunity to discuss new challenges and opportunities in achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula and around the world in the face of the pandemic.
