Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn will convene a Cabinet meeting Friday afternoon, hours after the Constitutional Court ruled to oust President Park Geun-hye over a corruption scandal.

During the meeting slated to begin at 2:30 p.m., Hwang is expected to call on ministers to focus on preventing the nation from descending into confusion over the historic ruling and ensuring the stable management of state affairs amid the absence of the president.

Later in the day, Hwang also plans to convene a session of the National Security Council to discuss diplomatic and security challenges facing the nation. He is also expected to issue a statement to the nation. (Yonhap)
