To effectively provide consumers with product information and ways to drink responsibly using a digital label

Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of the global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, is introducing a digital label system with a QR code in an effort to promote responsible alcohol consumption. With a pilot system application starting in July 2022 across Europe, the company is planning to introduce the system to Korea in the second half of 2023 and expand it to cover all Pernod Ricard Group products around the world by 2024.

Pernod Ricard Korea plans to develop a QR code and related systems last year and sequentially apply the QR code to its products being sold in Korea from the second half of this year. The new digital QR code label system is designed to provide consumers with additional product information and effectively deliver responsible drinking-related content.

can access a web page by scanning the QR code on the back label to get information on each product. The information will include the alcohol-related health risks, guidelines on responsible drinking, and more. All contents will be available in the relevant local languages in accordance with each country’s regulations and drinking guidelines.

What’s more, in addition to the pregnancy warning label that the company has voluntarily attached to its products, Pernod Ricard Korea is planning to add a drunk driving prohibition label. It will also display calorie information on the back label of its key products by 2025 to guarantee consumers’ right to be informed.

Alex Ryoo, HR & Corporate Affairs director of Pernod Ricard Korea commented, “Consumers have recently shown great interest in gaining sufficient and correct information on the products they consume and the impact they have on their health. With the introduction of a digital label, we expect consumers will enjoy accessing information they want in an easier and simpler way. Pernod Ricard Korea will continue to endeavor to provide consumers with more information on products and ways to drink more responsibly, to ultimately build a more responsible drinking culture.”
