The city of Nonsan (Mayor Beak Sung-hyun), which has announced its intention to host the 'Nonsan World Strawberry Expo' (hereafter Strawberry Expo), has released a blueprint for the upcoming 2027 Strawberry Expo.
On the 8th, the city held a report on the '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Expo Basic Plan Establishment and Feasibility Study Service Launch Report' at the city hall conference room to check the initial plans for the strawberry expo in detail.
More than 40 people attended the briefing session, including Mayor Baek Sung-hyun, Seo Seung-pil, chairman of the Nonsan City Council, Jang In-dong, head of the Smart Agriculture Division of Chungcheongnam-do, a strawberry expo advisory team, and related officials from Nonsan City.
According to the report, the strawberry expo will be held at the Nonsan Citizen Family Park for a month in February or March 2027, with the goal of establishing Nonsan as a "mecca for the premium K-strawberry industry with sustainable future value.
The city has set the cost of the project at 20 billion won, and expects more than 1.5 million visitors to visit Nonsan when the strawberry expo is held. Based on this, we plan to speed up the work and complete the contract by May 2024, and from June, we will apply for government international events, organize and operate a promotion council, organize a strawberry expo preparation TF, and enact ordinances.
"The Strawberry Expo will expand the entire strawberry industry beyond a simple event and become a meeting place to create another business by promoting domestic and foreign technology exchanges," said Mayor Baek at the briefing session. "We want to create secondary and tertiary values by fusing tourism and cultural contents to create a new engine for regional economic development."
Meanwhile, since the inauguration of the 8th civilian government, Nonsan City has been expanding its overseas sales by maximizing the productivity and ease of export of excellent Nonsan strawberries. The city signed large-scale export agreements with leading distributors in Vietnam in February and Thailand in April, and has been conducting active business since then.

We will host the Korea Strawberry Expo to ensure that we are the home of the best strawberries, and we will ease the burden on farmers through the Agricultural Products Distribution Sales Export Support Center.
We'll host the World Strawberry Expo to showcase our best produce.
Our goal is to preempt the issue of the World Strawberry Expo and bring the world's market beyond the Korean market to the bowl of Nonsan.

We are gathering wisdom together with farmers, citizens of Nonsan, and public officials to dream of a tomorrow that produces excellent agricultural products and captures the hearts of the world.
