The 25th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2023), together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), will host a special animation exhibition atthe Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF) and the Baikonur International Short Film Festival (BFF) in Kazakhstan as part of the 2022-2023 Korea-Kazakhstan Cultural Exchange Year.
On Friday, September 8, BFF's "Korean Animation Special Exhibition" will feature 12 short and feature films, including "Princess Aya," directed by Lee Sung-kang, who won the Grand Prize at the Annecy International Animation Festival for "The Story of Mari," and "I'm a Horse," directed by Lim Chae-lin, as well as a visit to Kazakhstan by K-Pop star Baek Ah-yeon, who provides the voice of "Princess Aya.
On Saturday, October 21, BIAF's Kazakh Special Exhibition: Immortal Kazakhs will screen nine Kazakh animated features and shorts. Directors Ivan Ardashov and Anita Chernik will be on hand to introduce Kazakh animation, including the feature The Adventures of a Girl, the country's biggest box office hit, as well as shorts Hok and Defenseless Boy.
