The first report on the progress of the 2023 Ganggyeong Salted Fish Festival, hosted by Nonsan City (Mayor Baek Sung-hyun) and organized by the Nonsan Culture and Tourism Foundation (Chairman Ji Jin-ho), was held in the conference room of the Nonsan City Hall on Aug. 1, 2023.
Officials of the City listened to the Foundation's overall preparations covering the nature of this year's Festival, promotion strategies, and basic plans. The Foundation's strategy is to largely; Development of stay-type tourism content, organizing of a different space, aiming for the and preparation for a safe and reasonable-cost free festival.
According to the details discussed, this year's Ganggyeong Salted Fish Festival will be held under the detailed theme of "Dancing to This Taste, Dancing to That Style, and Dancing Together" to match the subtitle, "Ganggyeong Salted Fish dancing with Sangwol Sweet Potato.".
The idea is to promote a richer festival by dealing with the meeting of Ganggyeong salted seafood and Sangwol sweet potatoes introduced last year more in depth.
In particular, it will greatly expand its character to the Salted Sweet Potato Food Culture Festival.
The organizer's goal is to maximize the combination of the salty flavor unique to Ganggyeong salted Fish and the soft and sweet taste of Sangwol sweet potatoes to present them to visitors.
In addition, various programs such as a book concert held by Nonsan's representative writers Park Bum-shin and Kim Hong-shin, 100 kinds of salted seafood gourmet, camping cars and accommodation experiences at modern cultural heritage are expected to further upgrade the beauty and taste of the festival.
Mayor Baek Sung-hyun of the Nonsan City said, "This year's Ganggyeong Salted Fish Festival will be a place for a family-friendly culture that encompasses children, MZ generation, and middle-aged people."
He added, "Let's raise some of the proceeds as a flood recovery fund to give hope and share pain with citizens affected by the flood," expressing his willingness to use this year's Ganggyeong Salted Seafood Festival as an opportunity to convey pride to citizens and realize good economic effects.
