The opening of the '2023 Ganggyeong Jeotgal Festival' in Ganggyeong-eup, Nonsan-si, Korea's home of salted seafood, is just around the corner.

The Ganggyeong Jeotgal Festival Promotion Committee Chairman Na Kyung-pil announced that it will blow the event’s opening whistle for '2023 Ganggyeong Jeotgal Festival' on the 19th and kick off the four-day fair.

Following last year's festival, this year will be decorated as a "compatibility-driven venue for specialty products from Nonsan," which seeks to blend Ganggyeong jeotgal and Sangwol sweet potatoes. The salty, savory flavor of Ganggyeong jeotgal and the sweet, mellow flavor of Sangwol sweet potatoes together hatch a fantastic 'chemistry'.

This festival will also be another opportunity to raise the value of Ganggyeong Jeotgal internationally and to the next level." Na Kyung-pil, chairman of the Ganggyeong Festival Promotion Committee, also said, "We want to create a festival without overpay and an environment-friendly festival with local residents, including the residents of Ganggyeong." "We will organize a festival where young and old people can fall in love with jeotgal, sweet potatoes, and the charm of Ganggyeong. We look forward to your visit."

In addition, Paik Baek-hyun, Mayor of Nonsan City, said:

"The subtheme of this year's festival is 'Ganggyeong Jeotgal dances with Sangwol Sweet Potato!

'2023 Ganggyeong Jeotgal Festival' is a celebration that combines Ganggyeong Jeotgal and 50 years of cultivation technology coupled with luxury sweet potatoes.

The festival will be greatly expanded to a 'Jeotgal and Sweet Potato Hearty Foods Culture Festival' and will maximize the blend of salty and savory flavor of Jeotgal and the mild and sweet flavor of Sangwol sweet potatoes to present them to visitors.

It's no coincidence that Nonsan's Ganggyeong Jeotgal is known for its deliciousness and it's fermentation science and tradition. Fermented foods will be the basic diet for nutrition in the 21st century, and there's no better example than jeotgal.

On one day in fall, when you want to get away, come to Ganggyeong, where the blue sky, puffy clouds, and greenery together form an exquisite combination."
