The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkiye was held on 30 October at the Shilla Hotel's Emerald Room.
More than 500 guests were invited from H.E Murat Tamer Ambassador of Turkiye including ambassadors, diplomats and officials from various countries. The ceremony was held outdoors on a large garden and green lawn.
Minister of Veterans Affairs Park Min-sik attended the ceremony and delivered a congratulatory speech, and the General Director of the Turkie National Broadcasting Company and his delegation attended and filmed the ceremony.
A special video message from H.E Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkiye was shown on the occasion.
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye was also a significant event in the history of Korea. Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkiye Century has begun and we are walking confidently on the path of modern civilisation as conceived by Atatürk.
In his speech, the ambassador said that Korea is a special country for us and we are close to each other. The relationship between Turkiye and Koreans goes back 1500 years, living side by side on the steppes of northern Turkiye and Central Asia for many years and defeating common enemies together. Turkiye traditions, culture and even language are intertwined, and. Turkiye and Korea are even related. For this reason, during the painful period of the Korean War, the Turkiye who set foot in Korea came to the aid of their old friends recorded in the DNA code. There were almost 100 martyrs.
The Republic of Turkiye is proud of the successes of its brothers, as we are blood brothers with Korea. The Republic of Turkiye has also shown remarkable development in the first 100 years of its existence. Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turquoise Century has begun and we are walking confidently towards the foundations of modern civilisation as conceived by Atatürk. Over the past 70 years, friendly cooperation between the two countries in all fields has increased, with bilateral trade volume reaching $10 billion by 2022, and tourism, commercial and military relations gaining momentum.
Turkish Airlines, which has the world's largest number of destinations, operates 11 flights a week between Seoul and Istanbul, while Korean airlines operate 22 flights a week. In particular, large-scale projects have been carried out by Turkish and Korean companies in recent years. In the future, high-level visits will be held to develop more important projects between the two countries.
The Ambassador concluded his speech by saying that he bowed his head in gratitude and respect to Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms who founded the Republic of Turkiye and to all the heroes who were martyred for the protection and defence of the Republic.
