Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean affiliate of global wine and spirit company Pernod Ricard group, has signed a business agreement with Jeonju University to provide a free training on sustainable bar operations.

The agreement will expand the ‘Bar World of Tomorrow' program, which was previously only available in Seoul and other metropolitan areas, to Honam, and to include university students aged 19 or older from Jeonju University's Culinary Arts and Tourism Management departments. The training is part of Pernod Ricard Korea's efforts to build a sustainable bar culture and establish a culture of responsible drinking throughout the Korean liquor industry. It is expected to expand the concept and practice of sustainability and responsibility not only in the food and beverage industry but also in the hospitality industry as a whole.

It is expected to be a time for young adults are interested in the future and the environment to establish the concept of sustainability and expand their ideas.

Frantz Hotton, CEO of Pernod Ricard Korea, noted "this agreement demonstrates the strong interest in sustainability and responsibility within the F&B and hospitality industry in Korea, and we are pleased to be a part of building this sustainable culture”, and added "Pernod Ricard Korea will continue to expand our professional training program in order to go beyond a one-time education, and that we are able to work with not only bartenders, but also university students, who are the future of the industry, to build sustainable and responsible operating systems across the industry."

In 2019, the Pernod Ricard Group released its 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility Roadmap, "Good Times from a Good Place", and is committed to achieving sustainable and responsible business goals at all stages of production, distribution, and marketing of its products, from grain to a glass. In line with this roadmap, Pernod Ricard Korea has announced a plan to replace its entire corporate vehicles with eco-friendly mobility to jointly reduce carbon emissions. The company has also banned the use of single-use plastic point-of-sale (POS) items and ensure that all POS items used in marketing and sales promotions are made from recyclable, reusable, or biodegradable materials.
