It is a great honor for me to be here today with you on this occasion of forum about the ‘Wellness Food’ and to be exposed to Korean dining culture and cooking lessons.
It is wonderful to learn that the name Yeosu means" beautiful (yo) waters (su)". As the name suggests, I look forward to enjoying the abundance of beautiful view tonight. I hear that “Yeosu Night Sea is the most spectacular one ",
I also have learnt good news about Yeosu, and that in 2026 you will host Yeosu World Island Exhibition which will be the first of its kind for the countries with Islands.
I wish to take this opportunity to wish you best of luck in preparation as I understand this will be the most meaningful and profound gathering to share and experience the history and culture of the Islands. I am coming from the country that is blessed to have an Island of Zanzibar, an archipelago of islands located in the Indian Ocean known for its exotic beaches, famous spice plantations, history and diverse culture. I hope that Tanzania will be part of this exhibition and share its Island experience.
Likewise, I wish to extend my greatest admiration and congratulate your Honorable Mayor Jung Ki-Myung and your team for continuing to promote the beauty and uniqueness of Yeosu to Koreans and globally. This invitation today is a testimony of those good efforts., This is a great opportunity to us, because Invitations like this make our stay in Korean the most memorable one.
Equally, you may wish to know that; our presence here today demonstrates our effort to pursue the commitment to strengthen our relationship with Koreans and embed ourselves in Korean culture.
On behalf of other spouses, I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to everyone whose dedication and efforts have contributed for us being hosted to such a meaningful workshop. Allow me also to express my deepest thanks to you, the Mayor of Yeosu, your team and the people of Yeosu who have made this occasion such a success.
Also, Honorable Mayor I wish to say now that you are looking forward to hosting a global event. I look forward to seeing the Yeosu Island sponsoring K-drama and especially for those shown in international platforms. If I can share my experience, there are many parts of Korea that I knew before coming here thanks to K-drama that has opened wider doors for Korean waves across the world. Hence, I see it will be one of the great tools and opportunities for Yeosu to promote the island ahead of the exhibition.
In closing I would like to ensure you that we are all eager to learn, explore the beauty of Yeosu Island. I hear that one of your famous local cuisines is Gejang, and you are also known for gat kimchi , which are your specialty I look forward to enjoy that. As we all are looking forward to visiting Yeosu again in the near future, I wish to thank you very much.
