President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Paris on Thursday to make a final pitch for South Korea's bid to host the 2030 World Expo, with only days to go until the winner is announced.

Yoon, who arrived here following a four-day state visit to Britain, is scheduled to meet with delegates from member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the body in charge of overseeing the World Expo, during a three-day stay.

The meetings will take place over dinner, lunch and an evening reception, as Yoon makes a last-minute appeal for support ahead of next Tuesday's vote.

South Korea's southeastern port city of Busan is competing against Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Rome, Italy, to host the mega event.

The winner will be decided by a vote among 182 BIE member states during a general assembly in Paris.

This is Yoon's second trip to Paris since taking office.

In June, the president traveled to the French capital to attend a BIE general assembly and deliver a presentation on how South Korea plans to make the World Expo a platform for solutions to humanity's challenges, such as war and conflict, the digital divide and climate change.
