An art program will open this Saturday in Seoul for students from warm, developing countries who are unable to experience winter sports first hand, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Thursday.

The program "2018 PyeongChang Art Dream Camp" will show the results of the same camp from last year when Korean artists interacted with some 60 children from Vietnam, Columbia, Indonesia and Malawi.

The art program was launched in 2016 by the ministry and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service to drum up interest in the upcoming games.

Under the program, the participants experienced Korean culture and winter sports and created artwork based on their experiences.

During the event set for Jan. 6-13 in Seoul and PyeongChang, the host city of the 2018 Winter Games, they will put the final touches on their work and perform music, plays and dances. On Jan. 12, they are scheduled to present the final outcomes of the program at the Mary Hall of Sogang University in Seoul. A photo exhibition is also planned at the hall to show the journey of the last two years.

The Winter Olympics will take place mainly in PyeongChang, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul, on Feb. 9-25, but some of the events will also be held in the neighboring city of Gangneung and Jeongseon county. (Yonhap)
