Ambassador Simon Smith of the United Kingdom in Seoul visited the Cheongju City of Chungcheongbuk-do Province on Sept. 23, 2020, and met with Mayor Han Beom-deok of the City. 
According to Cheongju City officials, Ambassador Smith then toured a number of up-and-coming business companies producing export goods and various facilities of arts and culture in the city.
The Cheongju City has a history of 1,500 years and is known as home of the world’s oldest metal types named Jikji, which have also been recorded in the UNESCO as world historical heritage. An exhibition center for the relics is under construction.
