More than 130 000 pieces are sold every day... Event in celebration of the 1st Anniversary of ‘Freeze and Drink Yakult’

Korea Yakult (CEO Jung-wan Ko) announced that sales of their ‘Frozen Yakult’, since its launch in April 2016, have reached the mark of 50 million pieces. On average 130 thousand pieces are sold daily.

'Frozen Yakult’ is packaged in upside-down containers twice as big as the existing Yakult packaging and is designed to be easily eaten with a spoon. This new Yakult became a hot topic in social media and triggers nostalgia in people in their 30s and 40s, who used to enjoy this product as kids.

Korea Yakult’s representative stated, “We have developed a product both of a sherbet type and of an ice cream type in order to preserve the same taste even when frozen. This product alone generated 18 billion won in sales last year".

This product contains patented lactic acid bacteria 'HY7712' (Lactobacillus plantarum), a complex of vitamins, xylitol and probiotic lactic acid bacteria. HY7712 is a vegetable lactic acid bacterium extracted from kimchi and it is known to have better immunity enhancement and antioxidant properties compared to animal lactic acid bacteria.


Korea Yakult presented the 'Frozen Yakult' 1st Anniversary Edition gift set in celebration of a 'Family Month' in May. This gift set, packaged in the Korean traditional first birthday, or Dol, gift box and decorated with the limited edition 1st Anniversary characters, can be purchased through Korea Yakult mobile app and homepage, as well as from Yakult sales ladies.
