S.Korea-Nigeria Relations Strengthened Through Culture, Trade, and Diplomacy
SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Koreapost) -The S.Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Pan-kyu, hosted a grand reception and cultural performance in Abuja to mark the 2024 Korea National Day celebration. The event was attended by dignitaries who enjoyed a vibrant showcase of Korean music, dance, sports, and hospitality.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Kim Pan-kyu expressed gratitude to all friends of Korea for honoring the occasion with their presence. He emphasized that the event underscored the strong and cordial relationship between the governments and peoples of Korea and Nigeria. The ambassador also acknowledged the solidarity and support of Nigeria towards Korea, recognizing the nation’s commitment to fostering bilateral ties.
He specifically commended Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, for leading the Nigerian delegation to the Korea-Africa Summit. During the summit, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar engaged with Korean business leaders and investors to further deepen trade and investment partnerships between the two countries.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kim Pan-kyu lauded the efforts of Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Aniche, for her dedication to enhancing economic cooperation. He noted that trade and investment between Korea and Nigeria have grown exponentially within a year, reflecting the mutual benefits of their collaboration. He reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and economic ties, particularly in the creative economy, to strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between both nations.
In his goodwill message, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, congratulated Korea on its 70th National Day and conveyed the good wishes of the Nigerian government and people. He highlighted the deepening strategic relationship between the two countries, particularly in economic cooperation and trade.
Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar acknowledged the increasing collaboration between Nigeria and Korea in key industries such as construction, heavy-duty manufacturing, and mechanics. He also recognized the contributions of major Korean companies like Samsung Electronics and LG, which have played significant roles in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
Expressing optimism for the future, he emphasized the need for Nigerian businesses to expand into the Korean market, fostering a balanced trade relationship that would contribute to the GDP growth of both nations.
