"Discussion on strengthening green growth cooperation and expanding international solidarity"
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Korea announced on November 11 that Ambassador Nurgali Arystanov met with Ban Ki-moon, the 8th UN Secretary-General and Chair of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), for a cordial discussion. The meeting took place in the context of the Global Green Growth Week 2025.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ways to expand cooperation in green growth and climate change response. Ambassador Arystanov expressed his appreciation for Ban Ki-moon’s contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation through his participation in various international events hosted by Kazakhstan.
Arystanov then presented Ban with an official invitation from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to attend the Regional Climate Summit, scheduled to be held in Astana in April 2026, co-hosted with UN agencies.
In response, Ban Ki-moon praised Kazakhstan’s active international climate initiatives and efforts toward green transition led by President Tokayev.
Both parties agreed to continue dialogue to strengthen cooperation under the GGGI framework. The embassy also noted that Kazakhstan has been a member of GGGI since December 2022.
