A special exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Venezuela opened on April 29 at Exhibition Hall 2 of the SOMA Museum of Art, located in Seoul Olympic Park. The event is hosted by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Korea and organized by the SOMA Museum.

Titled the SOMA Sculpture Art Platform (SSAP), the exhibition offers a meaningful opportunity to experience the works of renowned Venezuelan artist Jesús Rafael Soto alongside those of Korean sculptor Moon Shin in one space.

Isabel Di Carlo Quero, Chargé d'Affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy in Korea, remarked at the opening ceremony, “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1965, our two countries have consistently fostered exchanges in politics, economics, and culture. Today marks a significant occasion to reflect on that 60-year journey.”

She continued, “This exhibition is a symbolic encounter between two iconic artists representing Latin America and Korea. It showcases Venezuela’s proud artistic talent and dedication, and we hope it offers a moment of deep inspiration and resonance for the people of both nations.”

Jung Nam-mi, curator at the SOMA Museum, added, “We are delighted to share this artistic and cultural exchange between South Korea and Venezuela with the public. It is an honor for our museum to host such a meaningful exhibition in celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.”
